Discussion:
K-3 in a photo booth

I've been asked to set up a photo booth at a dance on New Years Eve. I
could simply just set it up with a remote control, but if there is a
workable way of using a flu card (or eyefi) in the K-3 that would at
least give them previews on my old iMac, that would be nifty.

Does anyone have experience with such?

What about echoing the output to a tablet?

Any do's, don'ts etc. I should be aware of?

I have made WiFi previews a permanent part of my workflow now. It's
that awesomely useful.

I'm using an Eye-Fi 8GB card (bought in 2012), and an iPad. The Eye-Fi
tethers to the iPad and sends the lowest possible quality JPEGs in
about 3 seconds. I use the RAW on one card JPEG on the other option in
both the K-3 and 645z.

You should be able to use an Android too. Avoid the workstation as the
Eye-Fi apps for that suck and don't work.

I have pretty much the same setup with my K-3. The JPGs go right to my
iPad. Be sure to put the eye-fi or flucard in SD2 - that's the slot the
works with wi-fi. In the wi-fi card setup there's check box where you
can set the default JPG size to the smallest size when using wi-fi.

What are the relative advantages or disadvantages of an eye-fi and a flu
card? I know that Pentax says that you get nifty features with the flu
card and doesn't mention the eye-fi in their ads.

I have both. The Flu card is a complete crock, imho. And it requires
that you connect via a browser -- if you can get it connect at all --
versus the Eye-Fi's ability to simply push its content to an app on
the tablet with no intervention by you.

While shooting the images simply show up and you can leave the tablet
sitting in view where everyone who needs to can see it.
